Diagnostic features

This is one of three riverine species found in NE Australia that have similar shell morphology. This one differs from both J. tumorosa and J. thaanumi in having angled shoulders.

Type locality: Boulder Creek, north of Tully, tributary of Bluegum Creek, tributary of Banyan Creek, tributary of Tully River, Queensland.

Biology and ecology

This species occurs under stones and leaves in shaded, clear flowing creeks and the main river.

Distribution

Tully River and tributaries, northeast Queensland.
