Aromatic annual forb, prostrate or 10-20cm tall. Leaves alternating up the stems, 0.3-2.7cm long, 1-11mm wide, flat, hairless, young growth woolly, with scattered resin dots, margins smooth or toothed, tips pointed or blunt. Flowers creamy green to yellowish, with 0 petals. Flower heads almost globular or hemispherical with a domed top, borne singly, stalkless, at the bases of the leaves.
Differs from Centipeda pleiocephala in the fact that it is usually a sprawling plant, and the flower heads are single.
