Sprawling to prostrate annual forb, stems to 12cm long. Leaves 0.8-4.5cm long, 1-3mm wide. Basal leaves opposite each other in a sparse rosette, with sheaths at their bases, flat to linear. Stem leaves scattered, flat and narrow, sparsely to densely rough-hairy. Flowers tiny (less than 3mm across), white, tubular, with 4-6 lobes, solitary along the stems and on short stalks at the bases of the leaves.
Differs from Plagiobothrys elachanthus in that the calyx has 5-8 lobes, clasping the fruiting bodies, the tips spreading or curving downwards.
