Summary description
Minute to large spiders (1-15 mm), ecribellate, entelegyne, 3 claws, 8 eyes.

Diagnosis
Tarsus IV with a row of lightly curved, serrated bristles (Euryopis is an exception).

Diagnostic characters used in the key
In dorsal view check for the:

  1. colour of the legs;
  2. colour of the cephalothorax;
  3. colour of the abdomen.

In lateral view check for the:

  1. shape of the cephalothorax;
  2. shape of the abdomen;
  3. presence of epigynum (in females)

In ventral view check for the:

  1. shape and shading of the sternum;
  2. colour of the abdomen;
  3. presence epigynum (in females);
  4. shape and development of pedipalps (in males);
  5. presence of colulus among the spinnerets.
