Distinguishing features

This species is discussed under E. ehrhornii, of which it is possibly a synonym.

The arrangement of setae on the seventh abdominal sternite is variable in the available specimens, including paratype females.

Related and similar species

The genus Ewartithrips was proposed for six species from California, although separation of this from the Mediterranean genus Tenothrips has been questioned (Bhatti, 2003).
