Distribution and Habitat

Harvey to Gunyidi, growing in sandy-clay and clay soils in woodlands and shrublands. In the southern part of its range the subspecies is common in shallow soil pockets on granite outcrops.

Description

A colourful subspecies 150–300 mm high with a hairy leaf 60–180 mm long by 2–4 mm wide and up to two predominantly red or red-marked flowers 50–90 mm across. As its common name suggests the subspecies has a clumping habit.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the other subspecies by its more colourful red or red-marked flowers.
