Distribution and Habitat

Murchison River to Eurardy Station, growing in yellow sandy soils in open woodlands and shrublands.

Description

A rare species 80–160 mm high with a broad, smooth leaf 20–30 mm long by 5–12 mm wide and one (rarely two) inverted, greenish-yellow and red flowers 5–8 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Flying Duck Orchid (Paracaleana nigrita) by its fewer lamina calli which occupy a third rather than two thirds the length of the labellum and northerly distribution.
