Distribution and Habitat

Porongorups to Boddington, growing in sandy and sandy-clay soils in woodlands and shrublands often with White Spider Orchid (Caladenia longicauda) and Lemon-scented Sun Orchid (Thelymitra antennifera).

Description

A recently recognised species 150–250 mm high with a hairy leaf 60–120 mm long by 4–6 mm wide and up to two pale-yellow flowers 80–110 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the closely related Tenterden Joseph’s Spider Orchid (Caladenia polychroma) by its less colourful creamy yellow to straw yellow flowers, smaller labellum, glossy, creamy-yellow, broadly anvil-shaped lamina calli and generally earlier flowering period.
