• What they do to plants

- larvae bore and feed inside the stems and sometimes into the storage roots. The stem base swells up.

- adults girdle the stem, causing wilting.

• Larvae and pupae are found inside the stem, mostly near the base.

• Has only been reported to occur in Africa.
